Terms of use
Use Sift Assist as guidance, not as a guarantee.
Last updated 9 September 2026. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Sift Assist.
1. The service
Sift Assist is an independent application-preparation service. It can help you understand an advert, find relevant experience, practise judgement tests and prepare suggested written or spoken answers. It does not submit applications, access recruitment systems, contact recruiters or make decisions for a government department.
Sift Assist is not part of, endorsed by or connected with the UK Civil Service, the UK Government or any recruitment platform.
2. Your account
You must provide an email address you control, keep your sign-in details private and tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless it resulted from our failure to use reasonable security measures.
We may pause access where needed to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law or deal with a security incident. We will restore access when the reason for the pause has been resolved where it is safe to do so.
3. Your content and responsibility
You keep ownership of the profile, experience and application material you provide. You give us permission to store and process it only to provide and secure the service described in these terms and our privacy notice.
You are responsible for checking every suggested answer. Before you use anything in an application or interview, make sure it is truthful, accurate, permitted by the relevant recruitment process and genuinely reflects your own experience. Do not submit made-up qualifications, results, responsibilities or events as fact.
Do not upload another person's personal information without a lawful reason, or paste classified, security-sensitive or restricted workplace material. You must have the right to provide anything you submit and you must not use the service to infringe another person's rights.
4. AI guidance and limits
AI can misunderstand an advert, miss important context or produce an inaccurate suggestion. It may use reasonable role-based connective detail to make a draft readable, but it is not a source of facts about your life. It does not verify your claims, predict a sift score or guarantee an interview, appointment or other recruitment result.
The free behaviour checker is an estimate against published Success Profiles material. Sift scores can vary between panels. It is not an official Civil Service score and does not rewrite your answer for you.
5. Fair use
Do not bypass access controls, probe another user's records, automate requests, reverse engineer the service, scrape its content in bulk, interfere with its operation, or use it for unlawful, abusive or deceptive activity. Do not use generated guidance to answer a live test or assessment where the rules prohibit assistance.
6. Credits and payments
Credit packs are one-time purchases made through Stripe Checkout. They are an allowance for your account, are not cash, cannot be transferred and do not themselves start an application or AI generation. The service shows the job-specific cost before a paid workspace or answer is begun; the server-side quote and ledger are authoritative.
Prices and future credit rules may change, but a confirmed purchase and an existing quoted operation are not rewritten by a later price change. A failed generation should not consume a credit; if your balance is not restored, contact us promptly with the purchase or application reference and do not include private answer text in the email.
Cancellation, refunds, duplicate payments and statutory consumer rights are explained in our refunds and cancellations policy. Nothing in these terms removes a right that the law does not allow us to exclude.
7. Availability and changes
We develop the service incrementally. Features, models, prices and supported formats may change. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability, but we will take reasonable care and provide a recovery route when a paid operation fails.
8. Intellectual property
Sift Assist, its software, design, prompts and original resources belong to the service operator or its licensors. You may use, adapt and copy suggestions produced from your own content for your own application preparation. You must not resell, publish in bulk or present the service materials as your own product.
9. Liability
We are responsible for providing the service with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for a recruitment decision, a panel's scoring, an employer's process, inaccurate information you supplied or your decision to submit a draft without checking it.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, breach of statutory consumer rights, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, the limits and exclusions allowed by law apply to indirect or consequential loss.
10. Ending an account
You can stop using the service and delete your account from the available account controls. We may end or suspend an account for serious or repeated breach of these terms, unlawful use, non-payment or a security risk. Any refund due under law or our refunds policy remains due after an account is closed.
11. Changes and governing law
We will update the date above when these terms change and will draw material changes to your attention where required. If a court finds one part unenforceable, the remaining terms continue. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer law gives you another right or forum.
Questions about these terms can be sent to civilservicehelper@outlook.com.
